PBKS Preview 2023

A solid start in the inaugural competition in 2008 signalled the team’s promise. In terms of points, it finished second and made it to the Indian Premier League semi-finals. But from 2009 to 2013 inclusive, it failed to make the playoffs. Punjab Kings did better in 2014 when they reached the final, where they were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders.

Punjab Kings stunned the fans with an erratic performance in IPL 2022. The first match ended in a resounding defeat to Delhi Capitals. But in the second game, it confidently defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore, which drew the attention of all the participants in the competition. Unfortunately, the team could not consolidate the result: a series of 5 unsuccessful matches followed, which put an end to their further participation in the fight for the main IPL trophy.

PBKS has no problems with the team’s top tier. Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan, experienced cricketers, have been appointed as starters and can be relied upon. The middle order has Liam Livingstone, Shahrukh Khan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. They can be backed up by the bought-in Raza and Curran when needed.

On the bowling side, there are no complaints: Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh have learnt to work together without slowing down the pace of the game. But to be fair, the team lacks good spinners. Raza and Rahul Chahar could well claim that role. But it remains to be seen what the balance of power will be in IPL 2023.

Punjab Kings 2021 Players List

Punjab Kings made some lucky purchases in the IPL 2023 mini auction. The team acquired all-rounder Sam Curran for a record ₹18.50 crore, beating out Mumbai Indians. It wanted to keep Mayank Agarwal, who captained PBKS last season, but could not outbid Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was compensated by signing star all-rounder Sikandar Raza for a base ₹50 lakh.

Punjab Kings produced nine players, ending up with the second highest budget of ₹32.2 crore at the auction. The team got experienced batsman Harpreet Bhatia, pacer Vidwath Kaverappa and also bought Mohit Rathe and Shivam Singh at a minimal price. The middle order has been strengthened by cricketers Raza and Curran.

PBKS Betting Tips

Although PBKS have produced 9 players who have been replaced by more experienced and successful cricketers, their chances of winning the IPL are slim. Betting on the future triumphant player is risky, but predicting the top scorer or player of the season is much easier.

Dhawan has almost always shown a great game. He has scored over 450 points in each of the last 7 seasons. The current Kings captain is consistently the second highest scorer in the Indian Premier League after Virat Kohli. If you intend to support the team, bet on Shikhar Dhawan as the best at bat player in the PBKS.

There are only three wicket-takers in the team – Jonny Bairstow, Jitesh Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh. It is easy enough to guess which of them will be named the best player in terms of the number of balls taken. It is likely to be England’s Jonny, who holds the world record for the high stand with the sixth wicket in Tests.

PBKS Betting Odds

Due to last season’s poor performance, the odds on PBKS winning the upcoming tournament are low. But that doesn’t mean that the team has no chance of making the playoffs and fighting for the IPL trophy. There have been major changes in the Kings squad which will surely have a positive impact on the performance in the upcoming battle.

Hi, my name is Advik Rabkha. I was born in Delhi in the ’90s. Since childhood, I have been an open-minded person with many passions: sports (especially cricket and football), reading, and computer games. I used to play football a lot with my peers. It was incredible fun. However, since my second utmost passion has been reading, I decided to dedicate my career to articles and texts. Therefore I went to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and successfully graduated from it.

During my university studies, I started observing the local and international cricket and football tournaments. Since I’m also a gamble-man, I always wanted to monetize my hobby. Hence, I started learning all sorts of betting tips. I used to make plenty of bets on different cricket and football tournaments. In my prime, I had a winrate on cricket tournaments (IPL,T20) more than 70%. Now I can truly consider myself a betting expert!
