About LSG Team

Lucknow Super Giants is one of the youngest teams in the Indian Premier League. It was formed in 2021 when the IPL Board of Governors floated a tender to set up two new teams. Twenty-two companies expressed their desire to be allowed to run the franchise in Lucknow. The very high cost of the teams scared away most of the contenders and only 6 of them applied. RPSG Group, owned by Sanjeev Goenka, won the bidding, buying LSG for ₹7,090 crore.

In January 2022, the management unveiled the official name of the newly-formed team – Lucknow Super Giants. On the eve of the IPL 2022 auction, K. L. Rahul was selected as its captain, becoming the highest paid cricketer in the league.

Lucknow Super Giants Captain

To be selected as the captain of LSG for the 2024 season is K. L. Rahul, an Indian cricketer born in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. He can be called one of the best players with the bat. He started his sporting career at a very young age, participating in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2010. A year later, he was already representing Karnataka, where he made a major contribution by winning the Ranji Trophy 2013-14.

And from there onwards his career only went uphill, he managed to play for such popular teams as Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrises Hyderabad and others, which earned him a lot of fans’ love and of course immoderate fees. He became the first Indian to win a century in a debut One Day International, and the third Indian to win a century in all three formats of international cricket.
